 Re: It is a shame.....
It took at least 3 minutes for that simple post to post. I walked away and watched some tv.
There may be some suggestion there is a problem on my end but this does not occur on any other site.

Ah yes... I remember learning about Email Clients at Starfleet Acadamy and found them to be a lot like the Ferengi... completely untrustworthy. Another problem is that the universal translator cannot decipher the language because the Email Clients possess multiple neocortices. Rule 79. 'Ferengi Rules of Acquisition', seems to apply here. Beware of the Vulcan greed for knowledge. In this then... be like a Vulcan when dealing with Email Clients. Failing that, hit it with a holographic neostatic shock. You need to get the right nodes though, because you could kill your Email Client otherwise. Good Luck Herbert.

You've got too much time on your hands, nom! I fixed it. The email problem is no more. Now I want you to channel your psychic energies towards fixing the slow page-loading here at D&R. Burn joss-sticks if you have to. Ring little silver bells too. And it might help if you do a little Tibetan tantric throat chanting. And if this fails, well, a sacrifice might be necessary to appease the Gods of Snafu. I suggest a live chicken from the local batch-hen farm. And you might think of getting some of your female neighbours together for a group ululation session.

Well, leaves us with no other choice than to ululate in chorus at the bewitching hour of midnight during a full moon. It's similar to holding a seance. Very powerful. If we can entice William Tell to extract his fangs for a moment from Sarah Palin's thighs, he too can join us in ululating a little Black Magic to come help with this page-loading problem. I'll get back to you after I've checked the moon-phases almanac for this month.

 Re: It is a shame.....
Sorry, missed this. Could be caused by several problems. One is a slow link. Check the speed on your ADSL (if you're using ADSL). Your ISP should provide some tools to that or do a search for "ADSL true speed" in google. The second could be a routing issue. This is more difficult to solve. Basically your ISP's computers must have a routing table which directs traffic to specific places on the internet. If their routing table directs your traffic via timbuktoo then you're going to see much slower times. This though, is unlikely but it could be a routing problem upstream from them. That is impossible to fix as it could be anywhere between your ISP and the server which hosts debate and relate. The third could be a DNS issue. This is a problem which is also hard to fix. The fiurst thing I'd do is flush your dns. On a windoze PC you need to open a command window (start - run - cmd). In that window type the command "ipconfig /flushdns". That will flush your local PC's DNS. Also, you may need to flush your ADSL router's DNS. Easiest way to do that is simply turn the router OFF, wait 10 minutes then turn it back ON. That should force it to re-register with the ISP's routers, re-aquire its IP number from DHCP and then re-aquire the DNS listing. Thats about all I can offer. I don't normally play with home routers. In fact I don't even have the internet at home. I use my time more valuably. Plotting revolution, having sex with my girlfriend, plotting more revolution and reading. Loads more fun.

 Re: It is a shame.....
It's not just me then. Today I wiped my hard drive clean and installed an updated version of WindowsXP Home Edition. The page-loading speed is very fast now. Over the past week I worked my way through a list of Things To Do if Your PC is Running Too Slow. None of it worked.... and never has since I first sat down at a computer. Save yourself a lot of frustration and angst by just formatting your hard drive and reinstalling your operating system.

Downloading and running a program called regseeker can improve the speed of a computer.

 Re: It is a shame.....
Yeah, sure. I'm a world authority on software that's supposed to speed up your computing time: and trust me - they are all bullshit. 'RegCure', 'Registration Mechanic' - etc ... they're all garbage so far as speeding up your system. Even 'Tuneup Utilities' is crapiola. Wiping the hard drive clean, and then reinstalling your OS from the installation CD is the only speeding up that's ever worked for me... and I've had 4 computers so far. Here's someone's suggestions on how to speed up your system.

 Re: It is a shame.....
All registry cleaners do is remove orphaned registry files, unless you have installed many many programs, doing a registry clean will not speed up your computer.

Correctomundo. In fact those-in-the-know say that doing frequent cleanups of your registration is ill-advised because it leads to system instability, etc. Whereas once I was a software hog, I've since become a disciple of minimalism.

 Re: It is a shame.....
It has worked for several people I know. Frequently fixes problems of slow internet responses and slow machines. Of course it could be many other things, including hardware problems but this is an easy fix that often works. You don't have to believe me but it doesan't cost anythign to try it and see does it?

 Re: It is a shame.....
Herbie I have been quietly amused by your regular internet /PC problems over the last few years and your attempts at fixing them by adding yet more junk programs. I have been wondering when you would complete the journey of realisation that less is best when it comes to PC's.
